Beautiful sunny start to the day. Did some washing and hung it out on the terazzo with Chris. Took some pics of the view and also the cute weird flowering cactuses in their pots, complete with morning dew. The spiral staircase is interesting against the lovely blue wall. Not good for anyone who doesnt like heights though - see straight out the metal grid to forever.

Went to a cafe and had a macchiato and a small hot chocolate - think, dark, rich, murray and violet would have loved it. Shared a plate of fruit and a teeny cup of yoghurt with Chris - some banana, pear, cantaloupe, pineapple, and a weird tropical, sort of passionfruit-tasting, ripe apple looking... with round seeds in the centre fruit.

Walked around the town more, it was a public holiday (day of the virgin Guadalupe or something), marching bands, people dressed up, firecracker noises, bells...

Went to the market which is in a big hangar-like building. Reminded me of the one in Budapest, but less grand.

Went to a little bar (Clave Azul) which Chris and Pat knew from last time. So quirky with posters, music instruments, sculptures etc up on walls and ceilings everywhere. No menu, me and Pat got margaritas, Chris, a beer. He asked if we wanted a snack and we said yes and then he disappeared... we weren't sure if for a menu or he was just gonna bring us something. This went on for two courses (fried whole baby potatoes with spicy sauce, slices of cucumber and jicama with salt and chilli, then tomatoey soup with little noodles and cheese, and flautos with frijoles insides, slathered in sourcream and fresh white cheese). We were offered carnes next but were too full.

I saw him pouring a drink for someone else from a big flagon with something floating in the bottomw. We asked about it and he said it was homemade mezcal with limes steeped in it. He brought us a taste and it was so smooth and yum. So Pat and I had a glass each.

Did some more wandering around, via some shops and churches. I bought some chocolates and we got some other supplies. In the corner shop I found a whole rack of Tang sachets in every possible flavour (melon, pina colada, tamarind, guava, hibiscus, mango...).

Watched 'Leave the World Behind'. Had some Matusalem, Cuban 10 yr rum which is very tasty and costs 270 pesos with is like 25 bucks.
